The wide range of grade levels addressed is also attractive, although it is geared more for high school students. Have student use the Explore tab to find links for coming up with new ideas to write about. Don't forget to look at "The Journalists' Questions" in the middle of the page.There is a memberhsip option. If you allow students to join, you should first get parent permission. Members are able to create journals and participate in collaboration, but you should have firm Internet Safety policies in place, if you decide to use these in class.

It also offers some good refreshers for teachers who have not taught writing in awhile or are looking for new ways to approach it, particularly using technology. Show students images of people from different time periods and ask them to infer personality traits, occupations, motivations, or conflicts based solely on visual clues. Students can then discuss how authors use appearance, actions, and dialogue to help readers understand characters. In small groups, have students write and perform a short, scripted scene featuring their created characters. Create a free account and take a moment during setup to adjust your notification settings so you only receive the emails you want. Upload and organize photos for the projects you plan to use with students so they are easy to access year after year. You can manage privacy settings at any time, making images public when needed and switching them to private when they are no longer in use. Be sure that you are the copyright holder of any images you upload by using original photos you have taken rather than images from the internet. To use the site effectively, you will need basic skills such as taking and saving digital photos, locating and uploading files, tagging images for easy student access, copying and sharing URLs for collections, and adjusting privacy and sharing settings.
