In the Classroom
Have students use a simple six-panel template from Comic Strip Templates by Canva, reviewed here to tell a complete story with a beginning, middle, and end. Encourage them to plan how each panel moves the action forward and to use captions, dialogue, and pictures only where they add important information. After reading a chapter or short text, have students create a comic response that shows an important event, a character's change, a conflict, or a theme. Have students add a brief written explanation that describes how their visual choices connect to evidence from the text. They can choose new vocabulary words from a reading, science, or social studies unit and create small comics that show each word in context.
