The Bassett Collection of Stereoscopic Images of Human Anatomy is a collection of three-dimensional photographic images of human anatomy. The photos from this collection are obtained from the Atlas project. To find the pictures, click the left-hand side of the site under "Collection Home." Human anatomy images on the Abdomen, Back, Head, Male and Female Pelvis, Lower Extremity, Neck, Thorax, and Upper Extremity. All images on the site are licensed under Creative Commons.

The Disabled Here and Now Collection is a free image library that is a "disability-led effort to provide free & inclusive stock images from our own perspective, with photos and illustrations celebrating disabled Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC)." The collection is organized into five categories: Community, LGBTQIA2S+, Life, Nature, and Social Justice. You can also search using tags such as accessibility, autism, cane, deaf, dating, illustration, self-care, visually impaired, and wheelchair user. All images from Disabled And Here are published under a Creative Commons Attribution license, making them easy to use in educational and creative projects.

This site states that it is "the world's largest public domain media search engine" and provides access to millions of public domain objects to view and download. Use Picryl to search for specific items such as Abraham Lincoln or Abraham Lincoln's papers. Sort information to view just text, images, or collections. Additional filters allow you to narrow down the time frame to include or select from suggested tags. Picryl also offers over 2,000 collections featuring various topics that range from lighthouses to glassblowing. After choosing an item, use the download link to save it to your device and access information to credit the source. Registration isn't required; however, it provides access to source URL information and allows you to create collections from resources found on Picryl.

Rawpixel offers a massive selection of free images, PNG elements, fonts, and backgrounds curated by the site's graphic designers. Select the Public Domain link to find collections and resources for use with a Creative Commons license. Rawpixel makes it easy to find items using Topics; select the topic link to search collections by trending, popular, or new images. Use the search bar to find specific topics, photos, or boards. Follow the directions to download pictures after creating your free account. Each download also includes attribution information to have when using. Finally, create boards to save images to a collection for later use.

Include Rawpixel with your other image resources for your professional use and share with students. Be sure to include discussions of proper attribution of images and Creative Commons Licensing. Consider using a curation tool such as Wakelet, reviewed here, or Padlet, reviewed here, to share image resources with students. Ask students to enhance presentations using images and elements found on Rawpixel. For example, when creating presentations on the American Revolution using Google Slides, reviewed here, or Canva Edu, reviewed here, ask students to find a PNG image of a smartphone, then add chat boxes into the phone to depict a conversation between George Washington and one of his generals. EDUimages provides a library of photos taken from seven urban schools that primarily serve multicultural students and low-income families representing modern classrooms. Images cover all grade levels from PreK through high school. Search the site by keyword, or browse through the collections divided into grade levels, subject area, and more. Download using the links provided; included with each image is all copyright information. The photos are free and licensed under Creative Commons attribution and require appropriate attribution.

What makes Bing different is some of the additional options provided on the home page. Bing provides different images in categories like popular people, feed topics, animals, nature, backgrounds and more. At Getty Collection Images, select from thousands of photos. Explore more than 100 years of photography from Woodrow Wilson to the present. Click the Explore Art tab, and find Teaching Materials and Podcasts both with numerous topics for teaching. For most of this collection, the watermark has been dropped, and the service appends a footer at the bottom of the picture with credit and a link to the licensing page. Creating an account is optional. There is also a video category; however this review is about the images only.

This site is dedicated to the history of health and medicine, and the oldest examples go back two thousand years. Everything is available under Creative Commons licensing. In the Classroom
History, science, and art teachers can explore the galleries dedicated to those subjects to include pictures in newsletters, blogs, and class websites. Share the site with students on an interactive whiteboard or projector when they need images for projects. Find images from locations you are studying in world cultures or geography class. Find images to use in student online projects such as Bookemon (to create online books), or Phrase.it, reviewed here (an image editor to add speech bubbles to your image). Art teachers can find images for students to use as references or in photomontages (with credit). Use images for writing prompts or even to create descriptive sentences. Have one student describe the image as the other sketches the image. Now compare the described image to the real image. Search Creative Commons images by COLOR(s)! Choose up to five colors. As you choose each color, the tiled squares fill with a myriad of images that include that color. Click a second color to view images that have both colors in them. Choose up to five colors. Click on "Next" in the lower right hand corner to view more pages of images. Click on the image you like to go to its Flickr site. Use CTRL-click (or right click) to view the different sizes of images and download pictures. Our editors did not notice any inappropriate photos. However, we highly recommend previewing this site before sharing with students. You will want to discuss what to do in the unlikely event that an image comes up that is not classroom appropriate. As with all Creative Commons images on Flickr, you will want to look at the details of the license to be sure you can use any image as you intend to. Some have limited use (such as no "derivative works"). Click the Rights link at the right when viewing an individual image to see the specifics.

In the Classroom
Use this tool when you seek specific color(s) to coordinate with a presentation or other class project. Use it to talk about the emotional impact of different colors, such as during a psychology unit on perception, a media literacy lesson on advertising color, or a discussion of color schemes in art class. Be sure to discuss the ethical use of images with proper credit, including Creative Common images. Start by having students carefully NAME files as they download and save them (include the photographer's name and a title). Remind them that they still need to give credit even if it is Creative Commons. This is a great site for looking at contrast, analogous and complementary color schemes, and other artistic expressions. Use TinEye Labs to uncover various elements of graphic design found in images. Art teachers will love the many options for demonstrating different color palettes on a projector or interactive whiteboard. Use the photo examples from Tineye Labs together with a tool such as Color Hunter, reviewed here, or Colour Lovers, reviewed here, to play hands-on with digital color. This is a wonderful site for finding quality images to use in projects. Use these images for either personal or professional projects. Registration is not necessary to download them. All images are copyright free. Search images by name (or category - photos, video, illustrations and vector) and filter by orientation (landscape or portrait) and image type (photo, clipart, video, or vector.) Be sure to use the filters at the top. Right click to download. Use good search terms to find the best pictures possible. You must know where to save images on your computer. Be sure to give credit to the person who took the picture and show their name wherever the image is used. Consider adding images to this site to increase the number of options and expand the ideas of Creative Commons. Adding images does require you to join the site (email required).

In the Classroom
Use in the classroom any time images are needed for projects, even if the project is not put on a website for others to see. Be sure students are aware that any time another person's image is used, they must give full credit for it, even if that owner cannot see it. Student groups can use Pixabay to collectively find the best image to use for a project. Enhance classroom technology use by challenging students to create personalized images (with text) using PicFont. Teachers can collect images for use on their interactive whiteboard for sorting activities (monocots and dicots, producers and consumers, etc). Use images as writing prompts or in poetry collections. Art teachers can find images for students to use as references or in photo montages (with credit). Elementary teachers can use images from this site as part of student-run interactive whiteboard activities, such as labeling parts of plants. Speech and language or ENL/ESL teachers can find images to use in vocabulary development activities. World language teachers can find cultural photos to use in oral exercises.Comments
A legal (yet, illegal in every sense) extortion letter from Getty Images ignited my need to find another source of genuinely free images online. Hence, ended up finding this awesome free source of truly free images online i.e. pixabay.com. I fear all the time that such a great source could easily be bought (gobbled up) by greedy and infamous businesses i.e. Getty and we will have to find some other source for genuinely free images.
