In the Classroom
Help substitutes create their own bag of tricks and supplies for when they enter the classroom without lesson plans. Students can create their own podcast using Spotify for Podcasters, reviewed here for what they wish a substitute did and did not do when in the classroom. Have preservice teachers listen to the episode and create a two-column chart separating the student's observable behaviors from Collins's interpretations and reactions. Ask students to discuss why distinguishing observation from interpretation matters when documenting classroom incidents. You must be registered and logged in to add items to your favorites.
